It strives to promote quality of communication research and teaching in higher education across Europe. It counts more than 2700 individuals as members. At present, ECREA's legal seat is located in Brussels, Belgium.ECREA is similar in nature with other learned societies like the International Communication Association (ICA) and the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR).
