Goodfellow Air Force Base is a nonflying United States Air Force base located in San Angelo, Texas, United States. As part of Air Education and Training Command, Goodfellow's main mission is cryptologic and intelligence training for the Air Force, Space Force, Army, Coast Guard, Navy, and Marine Corps. Military firefighters are also trained here as part of the 312th Training Squadron. It is the home of the 17th Training Wing. The base is named for World War I aviator First Lieutenant John J. Goodfellow Jr.

Grissom Air Reserve Base is a United States Air Force base, located about 12 miles (19 km) north of Kokomo in Cass and Miami counties in Indiana. The facility was established as a U.S. Navy installation, Naval Air Station Bunker Hill, in 1942 and was an active Air Force installation, Bunker Hill Air Force Base from 1954 to 1968, and Grissom Air Force Base from 1968 to 1994. Pursuant to a BRAC 1991 decision, the installation was downsized to an Air Force Reserve installation and renamed Grissom Air Reserve Base.

Since then it has been a joint-use civil airport/military base. Approximately 1700 acres plus the runway and taxiways comprise the current military installation, with the Grissom Aeroplex comprising the civilian aviation activities providing general aviation and charter service.

Originally named Bunker Hill Air Force Base, the base was renamed Grissom Air Force Base in 1968 in memory of astronaut and Indiana native Lieutenant Colonel Virgil I. "Gus" Grissom, USAF, who, along with fellow astronauts Lieutenant Colonel Ed White, USAF and Lieutenant Commander Roger Chaffee, USN, perished in the Apollo 1 fire at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station Launch Complex 34 on January 27, 1967.

It is home to the largest KC-135R Stratotanker wing in the Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC), plus units from the United States Army Reserve and also the US Marine Corps Reserve. The host unit is the 434th Air Refueling Wing (434 ARW), the "Hoosier Wing", which consists of three major groups and a variety of squadrons and flights. The wing develops and maintains the operational capability of its units and train reservists for worldwide duty, with the wing operationally-gained by the Air Mobility Command (AMC). Training consists of flight operations, deployments, and weekday and weekend training.

Federation of European Mineral Programs (FEMP) is a (legal) organisation founded by Hans de Ruiter in which 25 leadingmultinational companies participate together with seven leading European Universities. These offer thejoint European Mining, Minerals and Environmental Program (EMMEP) which is an integrated program with threespecialisations. The Federation is the co-ordinating body for matters regarding education and research covering all aspects of Mineral Engineering in a large part of Europe.

The participating universities are: Aachen (RWTH), Delft (TU Delft), University of Exeter (Camborne School of Mines), Helsinki (Aalto University), Miskolc (TUMiskolc) and Wrocław (Wrocław University of Technology).

The programs are developed for the students of the six universities, however a limited number of outside students participate as well. As a result, between 50 and 60 students join the FEMP program annually. Since the start in 1996 over 600 students participated in the programs. One of the objectives of FEMP is to assist students financially with the extra cost, when being abroad. The Bathurst Inlet Port and Road Project is a plan to build an all-weather road from Bathurst Inlet in Nunavut to a complex of mines that are approximately equidistant between Bathurst Inlet and Yellowknife, NWT. There are no paved roads between Yellowknife and the mines, so they have relied on shipping supplies to the mines over winter-time ice roads. However, in 2005, there was a particularly warm winter, and the ice roads weren't safe for a long enough period to bring in supplies.

A consortium of seven mining companies sponsored environmental impact studies to construct a deep-water port in Bathurst Inlet.

A plan referred to the Nunavut Impact Review Board in May 2004 projected a capacity to moor vessels of up to 50,000 tonnes.In this earlier plan the Bathurst Inlet Road would be an ice road, like that from Yellowknife, not an all-weather road as in post-2005 proposals, following the failure of the ice road to freeze early enough to allow transport of a whole year's worth of supplies.

The project was put on hold in 2008. It was re-initiated, in 2012.

By 2013 three mining companies were the proponents of the road: GlencoreXstrata, Sabina Gold andSilver Corporation.

Nunatsiaq reported that the project failed an environmental review in 2016, but passed with a revised proposal in 2017. They reported the port facility was substantially completed, by September 2018, with only a single certification required before it could open for business. They reported that the port cost $24 million CAD.
