The International Grains Council (IGC) is an intergovernmental organization which oversees the Grains Trade Convention and seeks to promote cooperation in the global grain trade. It’s tasked with enhancing market stability and world food security through providing impartial analysis on supply and demand fundamentals in the grains and oilseed sectors and improving transparency through regular reporting on market and policy developments.

The IGC's data, analysis and reporting are used by member governments, private organizations and other international bodies concerned with grain market developments. The IGC's benchmark Grains and Oilseeds Index, which tracks international grain and oilseed prices, is publicly available on the organization's website. The IGC Secretariat also administers the Food Assistance Convention, provides administrative services to the Food Assistance Committee and forms part of the secretariat of Agricultural Market Information System.

The headquarters are in London, where the IGC hosts the annual Grains Conference which brings international buyers and sellers, industry representatives and policy makers together.

In the politics of the European Union, an Intergovernmental Conference (IGC) is the formal procedure for negotiating amendments to the EU's founding treaties. Under the treaties, an IGC is called into being by the European Council, and is composed of representatives of the member states, with the Commission, and to a lesser degree the Parliament also participating.

An IGC will conclude with a meeting of the European Council, at which any political issues requiring resolution at the level of Heads of State or Government will be resolved, and final political agreement will be reached. A final treaty text in each of the community languages will then be prepared by the legal and linguistic experts of the member states, before being presented to the member states for signature and ratification.

There was much criticism of the functioning of this process in the negotiation of the Treaty of Nice in 2001, especially in regard to the Nice European Council which concluded the IGC. The next IGC, due to meet in October 2003, was prepared for by the Convention on the Future of Europe, which was modelled after the Convention which negotiated the Charter of Fundamental Rights. One of the recommendations of the Convention is that a convention be used to prepare for future IGCs; this has now indeed been incorporated into the treaty as a requirement for future treaty revisions, unless the European Parliament decides that it is not necessary (e.g. for minor amendments). The European Council of 21–22 June 2007 delivered to the Portuguese Presidency the mandate to call an IGC. Its objective was to draw up a Treaty amending the existing Treaties with a view to enhancing the efficiency and democratic legitimacy of the enlarged Union, as well as the coherence of its external action. The mandate provided the exclusive basis and framework for the work of and defines the timetable for completing this task. This IGC concluded its work on 18 October 2007, presenting the Reform Treaty.

The Intellectual Property Attache Act (IPAA) was unveiled by U.S. Representative Lamar S. Smith on July 9, 2012. This act was a section of the previously unsuccessful Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) which did not pass its markup by the House Judiciary Committee.The bill's aim was to increase the presence of intellectual property attaches around the world. The Institute for Geriatric Social Work (IGSW) is an American not-for-profit, non-membership organization serving the fast-growing geriatric social work field. Affiliated with Boston University, IGSW has become a national leader in providing social workers with the practice skills they will need to serve America’s growing population of older adults. Central to this mission have been IGSW’s education and training initiatives, which employ online and face-to-face training methods to reach individual practitioners and social services agencies that seek convenient, accessible, high-quality and low-cost training. Through these and future programs, IGSW intends to improve the quality and effectiveness of continuing professional education for social services practitioners for years to come.

IGSW was founded in 2002 by its director, Scott Miyake Geron, PhD, who also serves as an associate professor at Boston University School of Social Work, a leading center for education in geriatric social services. The creation of the Institute was funded through a five-year, $5.12 million grant from the Atlantic Philanthropies. Continuation funding has also been provided by Atlantic in the form of a $720,000 bridge grant and a second five-year grant for $3.1 million, which was awarded late in 2008.

A key source of credibility for IGSW is its affiliation with Boston University and specifically with the Boston University School of Social Work.
