The New York International Auto Show is an annual auto show that is held in Manhattan in late March or early April. It is held at the Jacob Javits Convention Center. It usually opens on or just before Easter weekend and closes on the first Sunday after Easter. In 2018, the NYIAS took place from March 30 through April 8.

The show has been held annually since 1900. It was the first automotive exhibition in North America.

The show was held at the New York Coliseum from 1956 to 1987 when the show moved to the Javits Center.

Before the show opens every year, several auto companies debut new production and concept vehicles for the press. In addition, the Greater New York Auto Dealers Association (GNYADA) and the International Motor Press Association (IMPA) host corporate meetings and events.

In addition to individual programs during the show, there are automobile related conferences, forums, symposiums, and other gatherings. The ten day event contribution to economy of the City and State is estimated to be in the hundreds of millions of dollars.

The New York International Ballet Competition (NYIBC), was a program providing dance education and employment opportunities for young dancers ages 17 to 24. In 1983 Ilona Copen founded NYIBC, with Igor Youskevitch as first artistic director, in order to fill a void and satisfy a need in the global dance ecosystem. Other international ballet competitions existed, but New York City, considered a dance capital of the world, did not have its own.

NYIBC's mission was to discover the world's finest young ballet dancers, provide them with an extraordinary educational, mentoring and cultural experience, advance their careers by producing performances in New York City, and promote international understanding and goodwill.

NYIBC's unique format in the ballet world provided its participants with a fair level playing field, and distinguished it from all other ballet competitions. For the three-week intensive program of dance education and professional training, all 48 dancers from around the world received full scholarships to participate. The dancers learned the same choreographic version of the pas de deux and contemporary duet chosen for each progressive round. Prior to arriving to New York City, none of the dancers knew the choice of repertoire, thus increasing the fairness of the competition. The only previously planned choreography was the individual solo, performed during the second round. The tone of the three-week-long competition, therefore, was much more similar to that of a professional company than a competition. The dancers came together from across the world and learned previously unknown choreography together. At the end, the performance rounds and gala took place over the course of five days, in the Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center.

Citing financial difficulties, the competition was ended on August 23, 2014.

The Legion of French Volunteers Against Bolshevism (French: Légion des volontaires français contre le bolchévisme, or LVF) was a unit of the German Army (Wehrmacht) formed by French collaborationist volunteers to participate in the German invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941. It was officially designated the 638th Infantry Regiment (Infanterieregiment 638) and was among a number of units formed at the same time in other parts of German-occupied Western Europe.

Created in July 1941, the LVF originated as part of a coalition of far-right political factions including Marcel Déat's National Popular Rally, Jacques Doriot's French Popular Party, Eugène Deloncle's Social Revolutionary Movement and Pierre Costantini's French League which were more explicitly supportive of Nazi ideology and collaboration with Nazi Germany. By contrast, the conservative and authoritarian Vichy regime considered itself neutral and were more ambiguous about its dependence on German support. However, the LVF was tolerated by the Vichy regime and received limited personal endorsement from its leading figures.

Smaller than originally anticipated, the LVF was sent to the Eastern Front in October 1941. It participated in the Battle of Moscow in November and December 1941 but performed poorly in combat and suffered heavy losses. It was deployed for most of its existence in to so-called bandit-fighting operations (Bandenbekämpfung) behind the front line in German-occupied Byelorussia and Ukraine. In total, 5,800 men served in the unit over the course of its existence. After the Allied landings in Normandy and Liberation of France, the LVF was disbanded in September 1944 and its personnel incorporated into the Waffen SS within the short-lived SS "Charlemagne" Waffen-Grenadier Brigade.

The New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF) is a critically acclaimed film festival held in New York City, dedicated to the display of Asian Film Culture. The New York Asian Film Festival generally features contemporary premieres and classic titles from Eastern Asia and Southeast Asia (particularly Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, China, Philippines, and Thailand), though South Asian cinema has also been represented via films from India and Pakistan. The NYAFF displays many of its films as a first-and-only screening in the country, giving audiences the chance to see these films, although they would not be normally distributed in the United States. The up-and-coming actors and directors of the exhibited films are brought over as special guests of the NYAFF every year. Genres featured in the film festival includes Horror film, Gangster/Crime, Martial Arts, and Action.

Film at Lincoln Center, previously known as the Film Society of Lincoln Center until 2019 is the festival's main institutional partner and home venue since 2010. The New York Asian Film Festival is owned and operated by the nonprofit organization the New York Asian Film Foundation Inc. Every year the annual film festival is organized and curated by executive director Samuel Jamier, programmers Claire Marty, David Wilentz, Karen Severns, and Koichi Mori. The festival's selection is curation-based but also accepts a number of submissions.

Until 2007, the festival was held annually at the Anthology Film Archives and/or The ImaginAsian, usually around the end of June and early July. In 2007, the festival moved to the IFC Center and Japan Society, and in 2010, the Lincoln Center became the festival's primary home, though select screenings are also held at SVA Theatre.

Starting in 2008, in addition to the Audience Award, the festival also handed out a Jury Prize. In 2013 the Daniel A. Craft Award for Excellence in Action Cinema was added in memory of the festival's late director and treasurer. The festival is also a large engine for filmmakers and their films to be picked up by large name distribution companies in the United States and in Asia.
