The International Rail Road Systems (reporting mark IRRS) was a Canadian short line railway company operating in the West Kootenay region of southeastern British Columbia.

In 1998, International Reload Systems subsidiary, International Rail Road Systems (IRRS), leased the Columbia Gardens–Salmo section of the original Nelson and Fort Sheppard Railway from Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway (BNSF). North of Parks was abandoned that year. The railway has operated one EMD GP9 locomotive. A decade later, Fruitvale–Parks was abandoned. In 2010, ATCO Wood Products, the primary user, purchased the section, which was renamed the Nelson and Fort Sheppard Railway Corporation in 2012.

Interlining to the south was BNSF initially, replaced by Kettle Falls International Railway from 2004, and St. Paul & Pacific Northwest Railroad from 2019.

Kiritimati or Christmas Island is a Pacific Ocean coral atoll in the northern Line Islands. It is part of the Republic of Kiribati. Its Gilbertese name is the rendition of the English word "Christmas" according to its phonology, in which the combination ti is pronounced s, and the name is thus pronounced [kiˈrɪsmæs].

The island has the greatest land area of any coral atoll in the world, about 388 square kilometres (150 square miles); its lagoon is roughly the same size. The atoll is about 150 km (93 mi) in perimeter, while the lagoon shoreline extends for over 48 km (30 mi). Kiritimati comprises over 70% of the total land area of Kiribati, a country encompassing 33 Pacific atolls and islands.

It lies 232 km (144 mi) north of the equator, 2,160 km (1,340 mi) south of Honolulu, and 5,360 km (3,330 mi) from San Francisco. Kiritimati Island is in the world's farthest forward time zone, UTC+14, and is therefore one of the first inhabited places on Earth to experience New Year's Day. (see also Caroline Atoll, Kiribati). Although it lies 2,460 km (1,530 mi) east of the 180th meridian, the Republic of Kiribati realigned the International Date Line in 1995, placing Kiritimati to the west of the dateline.

Nuclear tests were conducted on and around Christmas Island by the United Kingdom in the late 1950s, and by the United States in 1962. During these tests the island was not evacuated. Therefore, British, New Zealand, and Fijian servicemen, as well as local islanders, were exposed to radiation from the blasts.

The entire island is a Wildlife Sanctuary; access to five particularly sensitive areas is restricted.

The State of the City Address - or State of the City Speech - is a speech customarily given once each year by the mayors or city managers of many cities in the United States and Canada, and commonly called as State of the City Address (SOCA) or State of the Municipality Address (SOMA) in the Philippines. Oradea (UK: , US: , Romanian: [oˈrade̯a]; German: Großwardein [ˌɡʁoːsvaʁˈdaɪn]; Hungarian: Nagyvárad [ˈnɒɟvaːrɒd]) is a city in Romania, located in Crișana, a sub-region of Transylvania. Seat of the Bihor county, Oradea is one of the most important economic, social and cultural centers in the western part of Romania. The city is located in the north-west of the country, nestled between hills on the Crișana plain, on the banks of the river Crișul Repede, that divides the city into almost equal halves.

The Pickens Railroad is a shortline railroad that operates in the South Carolina Upstate region for more than a century, beginning in the 1890s.

The company was chartered in 1890 to build a 19-mile line from Easley, South Carolina, to Olenoy Gap by way of Pickens, South Carolina.

The line was opened between Easley and Pickens in 1898.

The train became known as the Doodle train because there was no way to turn the engine between runs on the eight-mile route and it returned to Pickens backward, looking like a doodle bug.

The Southern Railway briefly acquired control of the Pickens around 1910, however, it reverted to local interests several years later.

In the 1920s, Singer Manufacturing Company located a sewing machine cabinet plant on the Pickens Railroad. The plant eventually became the railroad's biggest customer and the line was purchased outright in 1939 by Singer.

In 1959, The Singer Company consolidated its sawmill and cabinet operations with the woodworking operations from Arkansas and the Craftsman power tools from New Jersey to the Pickens location. In 1963 Poinsett Lumber and Manufacturing Company had announced that the Pickens Railroad was for sale and James F. Jones of North Carolina purchased the line for approximately $50,000.

Jones built a new enginehouse and established a carshop for rebuilding and renovating railroad cars. Jones sold the Pickens in 1973 to Philadelphia-based National Railway Utilization Company, which expanded the carshop to build new freight cars.

In the early 1990s NRUC became Emergent Group and sold the railroad to CLC-Chattahoochee Locomotive Corp., which renamed the railroad Pickens Railway Company, according to the Federal Register.
