Simferopol International Airport (Russian: Международный аэропорт "Симферополь", Mezhdunarodnyy aeroport "Simferopol’"; Ukrainian: Міжнародний аеропорт "Сімферополь", Mizhnarodnyy aeroport "Simferopol’"; Crimean Tatar: Aqmescit Halqara Ava Limanı, Акъмесджит Халкъара Ава Лиманы); (IATA: SIP, ICAO: UKFF) (Russian AIP: URFF, УРФФ ) is an airport in Simferopol, de facto the capital of the Republic of Crimea. Built in 1936, the airport today has one international terminal and one domestic terminal.

On 14 May 2015, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine which, de facto, has no control over the airport, voted to rename it Amet-khan Sultan International Airport in memory of Amet-khan Sultan. Another airport named after Amet-khan Sultan is Uytash Airport located in Makhachkala, Dagestan. However, in 2018, Russian citizens voted for the airport to be named after the painter Ivan Aivazovsky after Amet-khan's name was not allowed in the list of final three options to vote for despite being the most popular in the preliminary round of voting.

Since the annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation in 2014, the airport is only used for flights to and from Russian airports due to limited international recognition of the annexation.

The Maatschappij tot Exploitatie van Staatsspoorwegen (Dutch pronunciation: [maːtsxɑˈpɛi tɔt ɛksplwaˈtaːtsi vɑn ˈstaːtspoːrʋeːɣə(n)]) or SS (Company for the Exploitation of the State Railways) was a private railroad founded to use the government funded railways. The company existed until 1938, when it formally merged with the Hollandsche IJzeren Spoorweg-Maatschappij (HSM) to form the Nederlandse Spoorwegen. The SS was, along with the HSM, the largest railroad company in the Netherlands.

In the 19th century, the government constructed a number of state railroads, the staatslijnen, to (major) cities and regions not yet served by the other railroads, but for which it was deemed important to connect them to the country's rail network. These lines were primarily located outside of the relatively densely populated Holland region, where the HSM ran services on the main lines. The SS was then founded as a private company to use these lines.

In 1890 the SS began to use the lines previously run by the defunct Nederlandsche Rhijnspoorweg-Maatschappij, and in 1919 it also began to use lines run by the Nederlandsche Centraal-Spoorweg-Maatschappij.

The company was formally merged with the HSM to form the Nederlandse Spoorwegen in 1938, although independent operations had stopped earlier.
