The full form of TC is “Ticket Collector“. Most commonly known as TTE (Travelling Ticket Examiner)/ TTI (Traveling Ticket Inspector) is one among the front-line staff of Indian Railways having a first-level interface with the passengers. The role of a Railway Ticket Collector (TC) is addressing the grievances of passengers who have reserved a ticket or birth in the train to travel comfortably. Having an interaction with a Ticket Collector is quite common in a train journey. You have shown him or her your ticket, otherwise, you’ll be subjected to a penalty that is more than the amount of the ticket. According to law, you may also get imprisonment. So, it is better to be careful and get the ticket to travel legally.

• The minimum educational qualification needed to become a railway ticket collector is 10th class pass with 50% marks from a recognized central or state board. If one has completed their diploma or 12 classes they can also apply for the same post. 
• Graduates can also apply for the post and the age limit is between 18 to 25 years. Along with basic education, the applicants must clear the Railway recruitment board (RRB) examination. 
• They need to appear for a competitive exam where one has to answer 150 questions in general knowledge, aptitude, mathematics and general English.

TDR: Ticket Deposit Receipt

The full form of TDR is Ticket Deposit Receipt. TDR is an option in Indian Railway that refunds the ticket. It can be submitted to claim a refund if the customer was not able to perform the journey due to any of the following reasons.

• Train running Late by More than Three hours And Passenger Not Travelled
• The difference of fare in case proper coach not attached
• AC Failure
• Traveled without proper ID proof
• Wrongly charged by TTE
• Party partially traveled

Ticket Deposit Receipt (TDR) can be filled within 30 days of the scheduled departure and it may take up 90 days for the refund. The cancellation and refund status can be checked at IRCTC website.

1) RRB: Railway Recruitment Board

In Indian Railways, the full form of RRB is Railway Recruitment Board. RRB is a government organization that manages the appointment of new employees to work on Indian railways. RRB is a government organization in India. It was created to recruit Group C candidates for Indian Railways. Currently, 21 Railway Recruitment Boards operate in Indian railways. It was known as the Railway Service Commission. It was renamed as Railway Recruitment Board in 1985.

The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) conducts the Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) exam to recruit commercial apprentices, merchandise guards, traffic apprentices, traffic assistants, station assistants, etc in all of India. Some RRBs have conducted online examinations in the past. However, currently, all RRBs conduct only written exams. 2) RRB: Railroad Retirement Board

In US Railroad RRB stands for Railroad Retirement Board. The US Railroad Retirement Council (RRB) is an independent agency in the executive branch of the United States government, created in 1935 to administer a social security program that offers retirement benefits to the country’s railroad workers. Railroad retirement benefit payments are mainly financed with payroll taxes paid by railway employers and their employees. The RRB headquarters are located in Chicago, Illinois, with local offices throughout the United States. The Railroad Retirement Council is chaired by three members appointed by the President of the United States, with the advice and consent of the Senate.

3) RRB: Regional Rural Bank

In the Indian Banking sector, RRB stands for Regional Rural Bank. RRBs are Scheduled commercial banks that operate regionally in different states of India. They were created to serve mainly rural areas of India with basic banking and financial services. However, RRBs may have branches established for urban operations and their area of operation may also include urban areas. RPF: Railway Protection Force

The full form of RPF is “Railway Protection Force“. RPF is a security force of the Indian Railways with the primary purpose to protect the railway passengers, passenger area and railway property. RPF is under the authority of Ministry of Railways (India) and the only security force which has the right to arrest, investigate and prosecute criminals, though the ultimate power rests in the hands of the Government Railway Police. The Indian Railway Protection Force Service (IRPFS) is established by the Railway Protection Force Act, 1957; enacted by the Indian Parliament for “the better protection and security of railway property”. The strength of RPF as on 1st January 2014 is estimated to be about 65000 personnel’s. Railway Protection Force is headed by the Direct General.

Following are the key objectives of RPF:

• To protect and safeguard railway property and to combat crime against it
• To remove any obstruction in the movement of railway property
• To identify potential situations where crime can take place (against railway property, be it static, in-transit or mobile) and effect remedial measures
• Facilitate passenger-travel and security by removing all anti-social elements from trains, railway premises and passenger area.
• Remain vigilant to prevent trafficking in women and children and take appropriate action to rehabilitate destitute children found in Railway areas.
• Act as a bridge between the Government Railway Police/local police and the Railway administration.
• To register and take up enquires under the Railway Property (Unlawful Possession) Act 1966, apprehend the offenders & participate in subsequent legal proceedings.

RAC: Reservation Against Cancellation

The full form of RAC is Reservation Against Cancellation. It is a reserve status on the Indian railway. Passengers whose names appear on the Reservation Against Cancellation (RAC) can board the train with a RAC ticket. It is a type of ticket sold by Indian Railways to travel to passengers whose tickets are not confirmed. It guarantees travel, but it does not guarantee a separate berth/cot, i.e. a berth is divided into two seats for two RAC ticket holders. A seat will be assigned to the ticket that reserves a RAC ticket if passengers who already have a confirmed ticket fail to board before the train departs or their confirmed ticket is canceled. In certain circumstances, a ticket on the waiting list can be converted to a RAC ticket, which means that it will not have a single seat, but will have a shared seat, which means that two passengers with a RAC ticket must have to share a seat between them.

IRFC: Indian Railway Finance Corporation

The full form of IRFC is “Indian Railway Finance Corporation“. IRFC is a finance arm of the Indian Railway. It raises financial resources for expansion and running through capital markets and other borrowings. Indian Railways (IR) is India’s national railway system operated by the Ministry of Railways. Indian Railway runs more than 20,000 passenger trains daily, on both long-distance and suburban routes, from 7,349 stations across India. The trains have five-digit and four-digit numbering system. In the year ending March 2018, IR carried 8.26 billion passengers and transported 1.16 billion tonnes of freight.

Indian Railways is headed by a seven-member Railway Board whose chairman reports to the Ministry of Railways. Railway Board also acts as the Ministry of Railways. The officers manning the office of Railway Board are mostly from organised Group A Railway Services and Railway Board Secretariat Service. IR is divided into 18 zones, headed by general managers who report to the Railway Board. The zones are further subdivided into 68 operating divisions, headed by divisional railway managers (DRM).
